Snowfall intensifies in Northeast, with many stuck at home under blizzard warnings and travel bans
Millions of people in New York City and a large swath of the northeastern U.S. were stuck at home under road travel bans and blizzard warnings Monday as heavy snow and strong winds intensified, creating whiteout conditions in the densely populated region.
New Hampshire and Maine seem to have braved through the worst of the blizzard. The National Weather Service said that the two states will see snow showers in the mountains as well as a dry climate on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026.
Large parts of the mid-Atlantic region woke up to over a foot of snow Monday morning, blanketing cars and coating trees and power lines. The snowfall has broken daily records in Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Trenton and Wilmington, but meteorologists say seasonal records are unlikely to fall.
